In a press statement, Jack Ma, the current executive chairman of AliBaba, announced that he will be stepping down from his role in the company come September 2019. He will be replaced by Daniel Zhang, the current chief executive of the company.
The head of one of the largest corporation in the world started his career as an english school teacher. He co-founded AliBaba in 1999 and since then saw major development within the company during his tenure. He, or more precisely his company, is involved in the DFTZ currently operational in KLIA’s Cargo Apron.
Mr Ma, who has a current net worth of USD36.6 billion (RM151.71 billion), will remain a director on Alibaba’s board until its annual shareholder meeting in 2020. He is a permanent member of the Alibaba Partnership.

When asked on his next step after stepping down, he mentioned that he looks forward to return back into the education sector. “The world is big, and I am still young, so I want to try new things,” quotes Ma. He plans to continue in his role as founding partner of the company even after stepping down.
