Internet Explorer No More! Google’s Beta Updates To Google Chrome Makes Browsing Faster & More Responsive

Everyone has their own preference when it comes to the choice of browsing site. Undeniably, Google Chrome is one of the world’s most popular of the browsing sites. That being said, many have their fair share of complaints about the site, citing the bad memory management on the browser which causes a poor and slow browsing experience. Battery life is also something important for many users and Chrome has been infamously known to be quite the drain on battery life, the drain more prominently seen in mobile devices, however.

Well, complaining works. Google is apparently listening to our qualms and have just recently announced two “under-the-hood” updates which currently run on the beta variant of Chrome (version M85).

Both the new updates include a new Profile Guided Optimisation and Tab Throttling feature. With the new updates added, browsing responsiveness is said to have risen by as much as 10 percent.

Simultaneously, the Tab Throttling feature claims to optimise your device’s battery life by recognising tabs that have been idling in the background for an extended period of time, reallocating those resources to tabs in active use.

Moreover, Google is also introducing Tab groups, allowing you to group your tabs by category. This is reportedly one of the most requested features by Chrome users. Additionally, Google is redesigning the webpages to be more user friendly on touchscreen laptops but it is only available for Chromebooks for now.

Other interesting things to note include a new emphasis on URL sharing between Android devices. Here, you can send links between your Android device and PC/other devices, or even generate QR codes via Chrome on Android or desktop.

Excitingly, Google is giving us a new PDF feature allowing users to fill out and save PDFs in Chrome. There will be more functionality with this update.

While the updates mentioned are currently only available on the beta version of Chrome, users should be patient with the final roll out as it may take some time. For more information on the updates, click here.
