Instagram Type Function Undergoing Tests for Stories

The ‘share content and let die-off’ concept is a pretty big deal for Instagram; so big that it’s now testing what it calls Instagram Type. The concept, of course, uses the ‘Type’ code-name for short.

Images, and videos even, are the best way to share events and happenings on social media. Of course, for certain cases, a text is always the best. Instagram understands this and is testing Type as an extra way to share, specifically with writing.

According to The Next Web, this function is available as an option in Stories mode. The button sits right next to the Boomerang and Rewind buttons.

When engaged, users can fiddle with the font types or upload an image a background. Instagram will apply filters that mutes the image to place more emphasis on the typed text. If there are no images on the upload queue, a plain background or gradient will automatically selected.

Type, for the time being, is in the testing phase with select users in Japan and Europe. Once rolled out to all, this feature will likely be one of the more favoured among Instagram users.
