Huawei Takes Potshots At Galaxy S10, We Agree To Some

Samsung 10th anniversary launch of the Galaxy series saw the release of not one but three models and a very expensive new foldable smartphone. There were many firsts on the S10, with 4K video recording, HDR+, laser etched camera hole and sleek Amoled display features. Reaching a milestone and 10 years in the business and with competition hot on in heels, we would have expected an radical shift in innovation and thinking behind the upcoming flagships, sadly apart for a sliver of new concepts there was no one big item that could set the S10 series from the nearest rival. Maybe that’s why noting the absence of we-were-first, Huawei is taking potshots at some of the features found on their smartphone.

Here’s are the questions Huawei is asking and to a certain extent so do we. Using Samsung teaser gif, the Chinese smartphone maker posted on its official Twitter handle dubbing the Galaxy S10 as just a Standard smartphone while claiming the P series as a Pioneering, Professional and Performance driven device. The clever play of words against the light blue background is the second round of attack on the new flagships by Samsung. An earlier posts shouts out of the zoom feature of the camera, questioning the competition’s ability and asks users to wait for the real zoom coming in March supposedly on the P30. And for the first time the inclusion of triple camera in the S10 is being sniggered at for being a late comer as Huawei pioneered the dual and triple on a smartphone.

There is also the battery life which Huawei offers more and reverse charging for the earbuds that is another introduction that was earlier seen on the Mate20 and a host of others. As the dominant leader in  the Android segment, more was expected and now rightly being parodied however direct ambush marketing comes with consequences, we have seen the age old war between Coca-Cola and Pepsi, Nike and Adidas and to a certain extent Google and Apple, but the simmering tension between Samsung and Huawei is obviously boiling over, potshots like this are okay in the advertising and branding world but they will have to be tastefully done and should not border on hate or revenge.
