HUAWEI Steps In to Help Building Expressway in Laos

The first phase of the China-Laos Expressway from Vientiane to Vangvieng section (Vientiane-Vangvieng Expressway) that jointly developed by Yunnan Construction and Investment Holding Group with the alliance of the Laos government, was officially opened on December 20. 

The completion will end the absence of expressways in Laos which made traveling from Vientiane to Vangvieng take only an hour, saving two and a half hours. It will also promote the significant development of regional resources, improve the livelihood of the Laos people along the route and deepen the cooperation.

Huawei together with its collaborator, Yunnan Huayuan Electronics Co. Ltd. to build the secure, stable and intelligent ICT platform for the first Laos’ smart expressways based on the ICT, cloud computing, IoT and security management system. 

The data communication and transmission equipment of Huawei deployed along the route also provides an integrated digital understanding, interaction, transmission, and application solution that uses big data analysis and other technological means to incorporate all-scenario solutions such as intelligent real-time tracking, intelligent charging, emergency response, and decision analysis.

As the 5G network will be built in Laos in 2021, the future of 5G+AI technology will bring up the intelligent level of expressway and stimulate the development of infrastructure in Laos.

The expressway started in Vientiane, the capital of Laos and ended in Vangvieng, a tourist spot in Laos. The opening will ameliorate the local transportation conditions, improve the efficiency as well as promote the development of economy and tourism along the way.

A staff member at Tmark Resort Vangvieng by the name of Phokham expressed her pleasure saying that tourists will be admired along their journey with a high tech and engineering construction, modern concept technology for driving safety. 

Nanthavath, who works in Vientiane said that the road is now wider, faster and safer. He also said that the usage of ETC will ease the rapid traffic and ICT technologies will make the traffic smarter and more convenient to drive on.
