HTC is back with a BANG!! Or so they thought with their latest stream of devices, and the one we’re going to highlight today is the Exodus 1s. First off, we’re going to talk about who it’s really for, because trust me, this doesn’t have wide appeal. The phone is a cheaper version of the HTC Exodus ‘blockchain’ phone. Now you may be asking yourself, what’s that? Well it means that it was specifically designed to securely handle cryptocurrency. The 1s therefore, can act as its own Bitcoin node, and you can handle transactions from the device itself, rather than some other service. But damn, is that incredibly niche.

Okay, now that that’s out of the way, lets get to what the phone is all about. It’s honestly, pretty bad, and by now, ancient tech, but anyway. The phone is running Android 8.1 Oreo (IN 2019??) which bad is already bad, but they didn’t stop there. But that’s not all, because it also comes with an ancient Snapdragon 435 Processor, 4GB of RAM, a single 13MP rear and front cam, and a microUSB port.

WHY???

How the heck is this supposed to handle crypto again? Also apparently, the entirety of the Bitcoin ledger is over 100GB of data, and this thing only has 64GBs of internal storage. Good luck with that homie. Also, they very sneakily didn’t want to include what processor they were running, I mean, check out their buy page below. All they mention is a ‘Snapdragon Processor’.

At the end of the day, I guess this is what HTC thought they needed to do to differentiate themselves from the rest of the phones on the market. I don’t exactly blame them, but try harder my dude. The phone starts from €219 (RM 1022), and is selling in  Europe, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and in the UAE. I mean honestly, you could get so much more for the price from other companies. WHO NEEDS THIS???
