HP Showcase the Spectre x360 With QHD Display And Pavilion x2 Detachables

Every once is while a laptop comes into the market demanding attention and in return receives the applause from the consumers, with versatility being the main focus the HP Spectre x360 is one such device that requires to be stood up and heard.

“Customers are looking for beautiful devices that deliver quality, versatility and portability,” said Kym Lim, Country General Manager, Printing and Personal Systems, HP Malaysia. “The HP Spectre x360 is transformational as it has the productivity of a high end notebook, tablet mode for on the go, tent mode for play and stand mode for watching entertainment in a stunning ultra-thin device.” 

During the recent HP Fanfest, HP Malaysia showcased 3 models from the series, the 13″ Spectre x360 i5, i7 and the i7 QHD screen, PC.com first saw this versatile laptop that folds to 4 different modes at Microsofts Build Conference in San Francisco in May. On top of it HP also introduced the Pavilion x2 detachables, a combination of a tablet and PC offering users a colorful, thin and light device.

But first lets look at the foldable, flipable, Spectre x360

The Spectre is designed with an all CNC aluminum chassis, it is 15.9 millimeters in height and weighs about 3.3 pounds. The device features polished metal on the sides that is achieved using a single machined cut, giving it a jewelry-like finish in a natural silver color. Unique to the x360 is that users can transition seamlessly from notebook mode for work, stand mode for viewing entertainment, tent mode for touchscreen entertainment, or tablet mode. This smooth operation is made possible by the innovative new hinges that contain a set of three spiral gears for synchronized and precise movement. Allowing the x360 to maintain the same thin profile in tablet mode that it has when closed.

There are a couple of things you should know about the Spectre, like the touch panel for instance which is optically bonded to the display giving increased brightness and maximising edge to edge display area. On models with the Quad HD display, the HP Spectre x360 takes advantage of Panel Self Refresh (PSR) technology which holds images on the screen to allow portions of the PC to power down when nothing on-screen is moving.  As a result of these and other focus areas, the HP Spectre x360 delivers up to 12.5 hours of battery life.To accommodate multiple devices and accessories, the HP Spectre x360 has three USB 3.0 ports with SSD up to 512GB.

Pavilion x2

The Pavilion x2 is the latest detachable PC from HP that is designed to be tablet first without compromising the notebook experience, being really slim the tablet weighs at a mere 1.29 pounds and 2.48 pounds with the keyboard attached and just 9.65 millimeters thin and 16.75 millimeters with the keyboard attached. The 10 inch diagonal HD IPS display opens up to 135 degrees for a great viewing experience without tipping. It features a USB Type-C connector to charge and power the device and enables data transfer over USB 2.0. The device also has a full-size USB 2.0 port to attach external devices without a dongle there us also a micro HDMI to connect to an external display or TV.

Battery life is up to 10.45 hours of playing full HD video and is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor with up to 64 gigabytes of storage and a micro SD card reader to further expand storage.

 

Availability and price

The 13″ HP Spectre i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD is priced at RM3999, the i7 model with the same RAM but pumped up storage with  256GB SSD is RM4999 and finally the QHD display model running on i7 with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD is RM5999. As for the Pavilion x2, it will be available from this month on-wards with a starting price from RM1299.
