In conjunction with Earth Day, Honor of Kings has rallied its global community to support environmental conservation through the Green Game Jam 2025, an initiative by Playing For The Planet and backed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Organised by TiMi Studio Group and Level Infinite, the campaign saw overwhelming in-game and real-world participation from players, with two key events — Protect Nature, Protect All Life and Match for Green — drawing over 90% engagement. A survey revealed 87.9% of players said they are more likely to take environmental action in their daily lives following the campaign.
Players helped retire 28,000 metric tonnes of carbon credits, channelled into four biodiversity-rich conservation efforts:
- Katingan Mentaya Project (Indonesia) – protecting peatlands in Central Kalimantan
- Kuamut Rainforest Conservation Project (Malaysia) – safeguarding rainforest biodiversity and empowering local communities
- Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project (Indonesia) – preserving tropical forests and biodiversity
- Brazilian Amazon APD Grouped Project (Brazil) – curbing deforestation through financial incentives
Outside of the game, players in Indonesia raised funds during a livestream to plant mangroves in Jakarta, while in the Philippines, streamers launched a campaign linking enemy takedowns in-game to real-world tree protection efforts.
Players can continue participating in these environmental missions until 4 May 2025. The success of the initiative underscores gaming’s growing role in driving awareness and tangible action for climate and conservation causes.
