Ladies and gents, I do believe it’s time to mark your calendars. The local creative industry just got another boost as POSTAM hosts the first International Creative Content Conference (IC3) Initiative. The event is sponsored by The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) with Guest of Honour YBhg. Dato’ Mohamed Sharil Mohamed Tarmizi, Chairman of MCMC and The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC). The IC3 Initiative is in association with The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM), Cathay Cineplex and Global Creative Media Agency (GCMA). POSTAM is an organization designed to help transform Malaysia into an internationally recognized Creative Content hub. It is an association that comprises some of the top post production, visual effects, animation, games, mobile and other creative content companies in Malaysia.

This year’s IC3 conference is themed around the subject of “Heading to Hollywood”. As much as Malaysia has grown over the years in terms of the quality of content there are still some obstacles that most companies encounter when pushing their content into the international market. Local productions houses are capable of generating content that can cater to a worldwide audience, but some are still unable to penetrate the international market. The conference seeks to teach the Malaysian creative industry on how to create a greater presence, both locally and internationally.
The IC3 Initiative is launched as a prelude to IC3 2014 which will be set up to be held as an annual internationally recognised Creative Content Conference here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This conference will be centered on creating a platform of central knowledge sharing what will feature and attract the best in the creative industry both locally and worldwide.
In the following year, in line with the country’s Economic Transformation Programme to boost the creative industry sector POSTAM in association with The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) and its associated bodies along with GCMA will be announcing their plans to continue to organize high net-worth conferences, networking events and international trade missions to established and growing markets around the world on 6 continents to truly increase the presence of Malaysian content globally.
Yoki Chairman of POSTAM says, “POSTAM remains committed to developing a strong supportive infrastructure that will boost Malaysia into a top contending player in the creative content industry”.
After a deafening silence in conferences catered to the creative industry, it is great news to hear that there is such an event happening.
