Cooler Master Nepton 140XL Review

So you decided to pimp your PC with some water-cooling system. You’ve read all about it, and how it’s more efficient and extremely silent than normal air cooling. But upon reading more you are overwhelmed with all these radiators, and pipes, and coolant talk. How do you start? What do you do? Can someone make it much simpler? Well never fear because Cooler Master has heard you! Introducing the Cooler Master Nepton 140XL, a complete water cooling kit for your PC.

Feels like Lego!
Cooler Master really made it simple to use this kit. I mean the instruction leaflet feels more like a Lego kit manual, where graphics are prioritised and virtually no wordings are used. Honestly for someone that never assembled a water cooling kit before, I very much welcome this idea. In the rather large purple and black box, you will also get the radiator/pump contraption that connects to a heatsink via two pipelines. The radiator is cooled via two 140mm Cooler Master fans. You can either affix the heatsink towards the rear of the casing or even on top of the chassis, as long as it has 140mm fan connectors.

Pump it to the Max!
The Nepton 140XL accepts a plethora of motherboards and processors, including both from Intel and AMD so no matter what kind of PC you are using, you should be fine. For testing, we mounted the cooling inside a Cooler Master HAF casing, using the Intel Socket 2011 4960X processor and Asus X79 Sabertooth motherboard combo. And the results silenced us (pun intended). At full load it managed to cool down our processor to a respectable 65 Celsius on full load and around 30 Celsius on idle.
