Here’s What’s Wrong With The New Stranger Things Season 4 Trailer

Stranger Things released their trailer for the latest Season 4 on Valentine’s Day, and it’s got a big “secret” they’ve been trying to hide since the end of the last season. SPOILER ALERT FOR THE TRAILER AND SEASON 3

And that secret is: Jim Hopper is still alive.

Wow, shocker right?

Okay not gonna lie, my jaws did pop open the moment they revealed him. Mostly because I had forgotten what the frick happened in season 3. Then I thought, where else could they have gone with the show? That made it make a bit more sense but doesn’t make me any less upset that yet another show brings someone “back to life”. I still have traumas from Jon Snow’s in Game of thrones revival, and subsequent events that transpired.

If you were like me and forgot how Stranger Things season 3 ended, they essentially killed Police Chief Jim Hopper. But then, after the credits, there was a scene in Kamchatka, Russia, at some sort of facility which houses demogorgons. There, two Russian military personnel went to the cells to retrieve a prisoner, and the faintest clue they gave to indicate Hopper was alive was “No, not the American”. That was it for season 3.

WHO ELSE COULD IT HAVE BEEN? WERE WE SUPPOSED TO HE SURPRISED??

WELL, I WAS, FOR LIKE 5 MINUTES TILL I REMEMBERED WHAT HAPPENED.

This new teaser just confirms that’s Hopper somehow made it to the Motherland. I’m sure they’ll have some form of nonsensical explanation to how he got there, but I’m assuming it’ll be something related to the magical realism embedded in the world.

But I’m just sick of this trope, trying to make people believe someone had died only to have them “come back to life” (return to the show) somehow. A lot of shows have done it. To me however, it’s an indicator that there really isn’t any other direction to go with it.

Think about it this way, if Eleven wasn’t around, would this group of teens be able to do half the badass stuff they do? I highly doubt it. Hopper at the very least, was an adult, and was pretty God damn cool. But hey, that’s just what I think. What do you guys think? Are y’all hyped for the new season of the show?
