HBO Asia have now started to offer a subscription to their HBO GO streaming service in Malaysia. This is news because HBO GO was previously available only via Astro if you were subscribed to the Movie Pack. And let’s be honest here, how many of us still use Astro?

This new plan comes priced at RM34.90/month, which is arguably pretty pricey. But HBO GO comes with on-demand access to HBO and HBO Asia originals and all their movies, series and content. It also comes with six live TV channels which includes: HBO, HBO Hits, HBO Signature, HBO Family, Red by HBO and Cinemax.

The advantage of having HBO Go however, is getting to see HBO Originals at the same time as the U.S. That’s and a very substantial feature if you ask me. Nothing like having something available right at the time it should be, unlike Netflix which sometimes has to delay releases outside of the U.S.

Subscribers can also take advantage of multiple features such as multi-language subtitles and downloading content to save your precious precious data. To be honest, HBO has got a bunch of content, some which has never been available before in Malaysia which is a step in the right direction for streaming sites. Netflix’s staggered approach to content around the world is weird to me, but licensing and other issues are a problem.

You’ll be able to subscribe to HBO GO via your iTunes or Google Play account, and the fee will be charged here. You can also subscribe to HBO GO via Channel 200 on Astro.

What do you guys think? Is HBO GO going to be your next streaming service? Are you gonna dump Netflix for it, or something to have side by side to have access to more content? Let us know in the comments!
