GrabVarsity is Now Available For Universiti Malaya Students

Grab Malaysia launches its first-ever tertiary student engagement programme known as “GrabVarsity” to better assist students in their daily transporting needs. This first-of-its-kind programme is targeted towards local students, which will also provide them with lifestyle benefits and rewards.

The main point of GrabVarsity is to become a transport partner with universities like Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and University Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP), who are the three main tertiary partners. Grab Malaysia will be establishing designated pick-up and drop-off areas within the selected universities to ease traffic congestion.

Grab Malaysia will also provide exclusive promo codes for various university events, ensuring that traffic congestion is kept at an all-time low, especially during said events.

Some of the GrabVarsity partners includes the likes of Shopee Malaysia, Pizza Hut, Digi, Photobook Worldwide, iflix and honor. As of right now, these are the only partners with GrabVarsity but Grab Malaysia promises there will be more to come in the following months.

Some of the GrabVarsity rewards from its partners are already available.

Part of the GrabVarsity programme also allows students to take part in hands-on learning opportunities. This comes through apprenticeship placement programmes with Grab Malaysia, which allows students from partner universities to work and learn from Grab Malaysia.

Aside from internships, GrabVarsity will also allow students to become part-time Grab driver-partners. This short-term, student-only programme will allow students to earn side income as a means to cover tuition fees or students loans. “Of course, we don’t want to aggressively push students to do it because studies come first,” said Sean Goh, Country Head of Grab Malaysia during the launch.

For students looking to take part in the programme can contact GrabVarsity through its website and if you don’t own a car, Grab Malaysia will also provide a short-term car rental programme. As of right now, this programme will only be available next month.
