In a striking move, the Government has decided to cancel or ban all form of Ramadan bazaar including street stalls during the Movement Contol Order (MCO). State councils have been mulling with various methods to organise the food bazzar including drive thru’s, pick up service and ehailing to support the vendors to earn some money during this period.

Minister in charge of security Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob mentioned the ban after meeting with his colleagues from the cabinet during their special discussion on the matter. The decision came about after consideration were taken on the repercussion and safety of the public with the coronavirus still active in the community. Federal Territory which organises one of the largest Ramadan bazaars in the country was mulling on holding drive through’s and ebazaars to cater for the thousands of vendor who look a the one month to earn their much needed income before Hari Raya. State councils were also planing on organising various concepts for vendors including ebazaar’s and pick up services. Sultan Johor put a stop on the concept of drive-thru being bandied by the State recently.

This will come as a major disappointment to many small vendors and food operators who depend on the income to celebrate the festivity. However, the nations efforts to fight and stem the spread of Covid 19 is at utmost priority at the moment and all citizens are expected to rally together to stop the outbreak.
