At Google’s I/O 2019 event, we finally got a look at the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. More than a look actually, the phone is actually available in 13 countries around the world already. Unfortunately enough, Malaysia isn’t one of those countries, and I’m not surprised. The Pixel phones aren’t as popular as other brands here, especially because of the price difference and value of what you’re getting out of the phone. However, there’s something about Google’s own iteration of how they think Android should function, that is so appealing to me. The phone’s specs are rather meh, but that’s to be expected out of a ‘budget’ Pixel device.

The Pixel 3a features 4GB of RAM, Snapdragon 670, 3000mAh battery with 18W fast charging and a headphone jack. They’re claiming that the phone can charge 7 hours of battery life, in just 15 minutes. While it is impressive, but remains to be seen. So based on these specs alone, we can determine that the Pixel 3a isn’t something to bark on about. The 3a features a better battery than the Pixel 3, which is somewhat confusing. But software integrations and other features seem to me more prevalent on the Pixel lineup of devices.

The XL model comes in at $479 (RM 1985) while the 3a is at $399 (RM 1650). It comes in three colours, just black, clearly white, and purple-ish. And that’s about it about the Google Pixel 3a lineup. If you’re like me, and curious on what it actually feels like to use the Pixel, probably just wait awhile. Someone is bound to start selling it on Lazada and online.
