Google uses the Google Photos Technology to let users immense into the world of Arts and Culture from a first-person perspective. The Google’s new Arts & Cultures app masterfully combines Google’s existing technology and art from over a thousand museums across 70 countries to create an immersive experience on Android and iOS smartphones.

With the technology as seen on the Google Cardboard, users can tour areas in virtual reality and check out the street art scene in Rome or travel 2,500 years back in time and look around the ancient Greek temple of Zeus.

There are also Street View-like tours available, similar to the Google Maps’ street view, where you can drag the image around with your finger and tap to move through the exhibit or location.

Taking a page from Google Goggles, the app has a feature called “Art Recognizer,” which works at select galleries including London’s Dulwich Picture Gallery, Sydney’s Art Gallery of New South Wales, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. This feature lets the app recognize pieces of art just by pointing a camera at them and lets it retrieve information regarding the art as well.

Aside from that, the app will also give you more information about opening times of the museums, what exhibits are there, and more, just like Google Map.
