By now, most people with WiFi-enabled TVs will be familiar with Google’s Cast service, which allows you to stream video directly to your TV over the home network. Well, for some reason, Google have decided to make things a little confusing by implementing a slightly inelegant rebranding.
Instead of being referred to as ‘Cast’ or ‘Google Cast’, the feature will now be known as ‘Chromecast built-in’.
Supposedly, this is to draw a connection between the Chromecast device and the way the feature itself works. Already, a couple of hardware partners have implemented firmware/software updates to reflect this rebranding. Even Cast’s Twitter account was renamed @Chromecast.
