Google will be building it’s third data centre in Southeast Asia and has picked Singapore as the preferred location, in fact the first and second centre are also in the City State.

The new data centre is set to be build next to the first two in Jurong West catering for the growing need for its Google Cloud Platform as more businesses go online in this region. When the first centre opened in 2011 there were about 260 million users in Southeast Asia within a span of 7 year more than 70 million new users have gone onto the net for the first time.  This region is turning into a hotspot for tech growth, since opening companies like Singapore Airlines, Go-Jek and Caroesell are using Google Cloud and the likes of Amazon Web Service have also established presence in Singapore.

Cloud service is big business, AWS a division to support Amazon initially has today grown into a commercial powerhouse for the company contributing substantially for the group. Google is catching up quickly with the GCP offering a host of services for customers and with tech giants looking to set foot in the ever growing SEA and Asia, the prospect continues to get brighter.
