Brand-New Generation YouTube Panel for 2018 Kicks-Off with Upcoming YouTube Talents

When the pitch for the panel discussion on v-logging, featuring four fast-growing YouTube talents, came through, it’s an intriguing take. Honestly, how often does one get to find out and learn from rising stars who are still learning the ropes. Late last week, YouTube Malaysia, knowing its underlying importance, has put together a long-running discussion panel that it calls Generation YouTube (#GenYTMY).

The first take of #GenYTMY for 2018, which took place late last week, features four different Malaysian YouTube talents; all of whom have built a strong following with their v-logging efforts. The trend, while not new and certainly very widespread among many content talents, now commands a wide-ranging audience. The four – Harvinth Skin of SkinVlogs; Nurnatasha Mohd Shahrizan, the 16-year old behind Luna Tasha; Sean Lee for the Sean Lje video page on YouTube, and Zack Merican of Zack Merican YouTube – take to the stage to share about how v-logs are making them more accessible to fans.

Each content creator discuss about their YouTube journey and the challenges they come across whilst in pursuit of their passion. For Harvinth, v-logging is one of the ways for him to channel his passion for entertaining people. This also includes, at times, testing the boundaries of his content focuses.

“I believe that to be distinct you have to be outstanding. I truly believe that by pushing the boundaries with my brand of comedy, I can change the mindsets of Malaysians; perhaps hopefully even leave a mark within the YouTube community,” adds Harvinth.

Both Lee and Zack concur as they also feel that YouTube is the perfect avenue for limitless creativity. Both have their own ways of engaging audiences and have experienced mixed results with some interesting fan encounters.

For Nurnatasha, the platform allows her to be more expressive. In fact, it gives her courage to open up and share her thoughts. With her video efforts, she also delves into various interests that gave her insights on what she genuinely likes.

As for Zack: “My videos do not focus on a specific genre, simply because I don’t want to limit myself. On my channel, I’ve always tried to entertain my fans with skits and in-car conversations with other YouTubers. Sometimes I also work on covers and original songs! Most fans will recognise you for your efforts so just do what you love and see how that works out.”
