Garmin Launches Descent X50i: A Dive Computer For Adventurers

Garmin Malaysia has unveiled its largest dive computer to date, the Descent X50i, featuring a vibrant 3-inch colour touchscreen display. Designed for both technical and recreational divers, the Descent X50i offers advanced features to enhance underwater exploration, including SubWave sonar technology for diver-to-diver communication, air integration, and a 20 ATM dive rating.

The Descent X50i’s robust build includes leakproof metal buttons, a sapphire lens, and an integrated backup dive light, making it ideal for deep dives and low-visibility conditions. The computer can track tank pressure, depth, and distance for up to eight divers using a Descent T2 transceiver, and its SubWave technology allows for diver-to-diver messaging up to 30 metres away.

Other features include DiveView maps with preloaded bathymetric depth contours, tide data, a dive compass, and real-time depth history to aid in dive planning and decompression. Divers can also review their dive logs and share data via the Garmin Dive app once back on land.

The Descent X50i will be available in December 2024, with a retail price of RM7,260. It can be purchased from Garmin’s e-store, Shopee, Lazada, AECO e-store, Garmin Brand Stores, and authorised retailers.
