Garena has revealed its 2025 Esports Roadmap for Free Fire, promising a year packed with thrilling tournaments, innovative competitive formats, and a new Global Talent Development program. The highlight of the roadmap includes two major international events: the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Global Finals in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the Esports World Cup: Free Fire in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The FFWS Global Finals, taking place across three weekends in November, will feature 18 elite teams competing for the championship title. Meanwhile, the Esports World Cup: Free Fire, scheduled from 15 to 20 July, will see another 18 teams battle for a spot in the Global Finals.
Regional FFWS leagues will kick off in April across Brazil, Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Pakistan. The Southeast Asia league, featuring teams from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, will host its Spring season in Hanoi and Fall season in Bangkok. The top teams from these leagues will advance to the Esports World Cup: Free Fire.
Garena is introducing several format upgrades to enhance the competitive experience. Key changes include:
- Last Game, Double Elimination: In the Knockout Stage, eliminations in the final game of each matchday will award double points, creating high-stakes moments.
- Champion Rush Point: During the FFWS Global Finals Grand Final, teams must reach a predetermined point total, after which the next Booyah! win secures the championship. If no team achieves this by the 8th game, the highest-ranking team wins.
- Unique Active Skill Rule: Each team member must equip a different active skill, encouraging diverse playstyles.
Additionally, Garena is launching a Global Talent Development program to support teams, players, and content creators through workshops and mentorship, further strengthening the esports ecosystem.
