GameStart 2018 Returns for Its 5th Year This October

GameStart 2018, Southeast Asia’s premier game convention, is celebrating its 5th year anniversary this 2018. The event will take place from 13th to 14th October 2018 down at Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore. You can expect a host of game showcases and previews, tabletop games, Esports competitions, and cosplayers at the event.

Notable guests include Elise Zhang, who is most known for voicing Mei from Overwatch. Besides that, GameStart is debuting its GameStart MasterClasses this year. These are a series of workshops where personalities from the games industry will come to share their knowledge. GameStart will host these workshops from 10th to 12th October at the venue itself.

Returning Events

Below are some of the returning events, as provided by GameStart 2018:

  • Gather round and immerse yourselves in fantastic worlds of board games, old and new, as the GameStart Tabletop returns to bring gamers the discovery of new analog worlds.
  • Doujin Market, Singapore’s largest community curated youth arts and illustration fair, is back for the third year with 43 artist tables. It is also curated in partnership with Neo Tokyo Project, Singapore’s first dedicated pop-culture marketing collective.
  • The 3rd Secretlab Grand Prix will be held for 2 sessions on 13 and 14 October, and the competitor with the fastest timing EACH DAY gets to bring home their own Secretlab Chair!
  • Cosplayers can put their best game cosplay forward at the GameStart Cosplay Runway on 14 OctoberPre-registration is now open at http://bit.ly/gscosplay18
  • Unwind, chill out and grab a bite in the fantasy-themed Sanctuary – A selection of awesome vendors, with great food and tasty beverages including specially selected craft beers, welcomes all within the convention grounds.

Indie Games

The GameStart Indie Award also makes a return from previous events. GameStart visitors can vote for their favourite indie games. GameStart will then sponsor the winning game developer a pen tablet from WACOM, as well as a trip to Taipei Game Show 2019 in January next year.  Indie developers can rent a booth spot at the event, on a first come first served basis. Esports Tournaments

GameStart 2018 will also be home to SEA Major 2018. This is a premier tournament where players from around the globe gather to compete. Some of the major tournaments this year include the Capcom Pro Tour Asia Finals, Tekken World Tour Master event, Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour SAGA, and the ArcRevo World Tour.

The Sea Mobile Major will also host its very first Shadowverse Contenders Cup for the Southeast Asia and Oceania region. Here, four top players will fight to represent the region at the Shadowverse World Grand Prix in Japan. The top prize for the Grand Prix amounts to as much as USD1,000,000.
