The Fujifilm X-A5 is the Smallest and Lightest Mirrorless Digital Camera

It looks like Fujifilm Malaysia is looking to break the mould of the mirrorless camera market with its latest offering, the Fujifilm X-A5. A direct successor to the X-A3, Fujifilm touts the X-A5 as the lightest and smallest mirrorless digital camera in its X Series to-date. It also features plenty of new technology and features that will make the X-A5 stand out from its predecessor.

With weight being a constant issue when it comes to cameras, Fujifilm has tackled it with gusto, featuring the new collapsible FUJINON XC15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS PZ lens with the X-A5. This makes the camera weigh at just shy of 500 grams, making it the lightest camera-zoom kit lens combination in the X Series. The X-A5 also features Bluetooth Low Energy technology, allowing you to wirelessly connect the camera with your smartphone.

The automatic transfer of images and videos can be done through the free FUJIFILM Camera Remote app, which is available on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. The X-A5 is also compatible with the Fujifilm Instax SP-3 Printer, allowing you to instantly print your pictures on the spot.

The X-A5 promises better image processing speed and power than the previous models, thanks to its new image processing engine. The camera also boasts a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor with a phase detection autofocus system (PDAF), which is capable of focusing on the subject at will. At the back of the camera sits an LCD monitor that is capable of rotating up to 180°.

By rotating the LCD monitor, the Eye AF function will trigger automatically to perfectly capture your selfies with sharp focus on the subject’s eyes. To make your selfies even better, Fujifilm introduces a Portrait Enhancer Mode, which is capable of giving you a radiant skin tone while still looking flattering and natural in your pictures.

The range of the Exposure Compensation Dial has also been increased from ±3EV to ±5EV. This gives you greater freedom in photographic expressions. The X-A5 also comes with a High-Speed HD Video function where you can record HD videos with quad speed for slow-motion shots. Its Multi Focus Mode will automatically stack 4K quality images into a single shot, while cleverly changing the depth of field setting required. You can also shoot up to 15 frames per second (FPS) in 4K image quality through its 4K Burst function for better video recording.

To make the launch all the more enjoyable, The lovely Farah Ann Abdul Hadi was announced as the official X-A5 selfie ambassador. She was also at the launch, sharing her personal experience with the camera. For those who aren’t sure about who she is, she is the Malaysian artistic gymnast who scored two gold medals during the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur as well as two golds, one silver and three bronze medals in the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.

There are three available colours for the Fujifilm X-A5, which are mainly silver, brown and pink. It also comes with a retail price of RM3,288, which also includes the FUJINON XC15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS PZ lens. For more information about the Fujifilm X-A5, you can head on over to Fujifilm’s website.
