Free Fire will launch its first new map in three years, Solara, on May 21 2025, to mark the battle royale’s 8th anniversary.
Spanning 1,400 metres by 1,400 metres, Solara features a blend of natural biomes and near-future urban design. The map includes a central twin-peak mountain and several distinct zones such as The Hub, Studio, and Bloomtown, combining modernist architecture with light sci-fi elements.
Key gameplay innovations include a full-map Slide system, enabling rapid movement with on-rail protective shields and enemy detection via colour changes. The map also introduces a dynamic weather system transitioning from day to dusk during matches, altering visibility and atmosphere at iconic landmarks. Interactive zones and hidden Easter eggs provide additional exploration opportunities.
To coincide with Solara’s release, Free Fire is launching the “Solarush!” event, offering daily and special tasks that reward players with unique animation effects, themed emotes, skyboards, parachutes, and more. Players can collect 8th Anniversary Tokens at the Kelly Show scene for a limited time.
Solara was first showcased during the Free Fire World Series Southeast Asia 2025 tournament broadcast on May 16 . The map will be available to all players from May 21 .
