We all know that TM’s Unifi isn’t exactly the most value-oriented broadband provider. But just how much better are the alternatives? Well, for the month of October at least, TIME Broadband is offering its 300Mbps package for just RM189/month. The competing Unifi Plan offers just a tenth of the download speed at just 30Mbps.

Of course, you could argue that TM offers a much, MUCH wider coverage across Malaysia, and the bundled HyppTV and free land line calls make it an irresistible deal for traditional users. In fact, the number of free stuff TM throws at you with the 30Mbps plan makes it difficult to do an apples-to-apples comparison. There’s 600 minutes of voice calls (unlimited to fixed lines), HyppTV available on 2 mobile devices, 500MB daily on TM Wifi hotspots as well as 12 months of free access to iFlix.

But just looking at raw internet speed, how could you argue with a bandwidth that’s ten times wider? There’s only one problem – TIME is a smaller company. So while the advantage of using its own fibre optic network means much faster speeds – most Malaysians are simply not eligible to even apply for it. But are you?
