Just days after going through its roster change, things are starting to pick up for Fnatic. Since the change, Fnatic have been on a hot streak, winning three best-of-three series in the Summit 8 Southeast Asia qualifiers.
Their first game was against Entity Gaming from India, which ended in a 2-1 win to Fnatic. This showed much promise, especially with their new mid player, Abed “Abed” Yusop in the foray. While Fnatic did drop a map against Entity Gaming, their next two wins were clean 2-0 sweeps of both Execration and TNC Pro Team, both from the Philippines.
Paving their way to the grand finals of the qualifiers, Fnatic faced off against their Malaysian counterpart, Mineski, who have been setting a new standard of gameplay as of late. This was the game Malaysians fans have been waiting for as it pits two of the best teams in Malaysia against one another to see who comes out on top.
It was a back-and-forth battle for the sole Southeast Asian spot at the Summit and Mineski took a comfortable 2-0 lead. This meant they needed to win just one more to qualify. Unfortunately, Fnatic had other plans in mind.
Game’s three, four and five was indeed a shell-shocker for many Mineski fans as Fnatic did the unbelievable comeback, picking up three maps against Mineski. No words can describe the awesome-ness that Fnatic displayed in the series so here are the highlights for the entire series.
This in no way means that Mineski is heading towards a downward spiral as they have already secured crucial qualifying points to TI8. However, this could mean a revolution for Fnatic with its new roster, who have definitely impressed these past few days.
