Ever wondered if you could beat the traffic by flying?
I mean, driving in Kuala Lumpur is bad enough. Getting stuck in hour long jams is nothing out of the ordinary. Although I’m sure there are other cities with congestion problems worse than us.
Well, CNN reported that Italdesign and Airbus is working on a concept vehicle that could bring that dream a reality. This design was revealed in the Geneva Motor Show.
Strictly speaking, it’s more of a hybrid of vehicles rather than a car. It’s rounded shape resembles a smart car – but with detachable wheels. So if you want to change modes from driving to flying, the middle rounded compartment can be lifted by a separate drone attached to the roof, while the wheels frame remains on the ground.
Essentially you’ve turned a car into a helicopter. Pretty cool. While you fly off, the wheels frame can automatically be moved into charging stations. This concept is by no means an individual ownership vehicle – rather it could be summoned by an app – akin to Uber and Grab.
New way to travel with public transport huh?
