Sony flips the script with the Sony Alpha A5100

Though Sony seems to be pushing the selfie aspect via a flipscreen concept, the Sony Alpha A5100 does more than just selfies. One of the most under-rated things about mirrorless cameras like this one are the fact that they can be paired with full-sized SLR lenses. Sony is out to reinforce this ability with the A5100.
Easy Transition
Although the A5100 is built for E-series of lenses, a simple adapter allows long-time Alpha users to transition smoothly into the compact SLTs. Now that Sony has fully integrated the NEX series into a single Alpha brand, the digital and physical user interface now feels all too familiar for Alpha veterans.
Context Ring
The ring around the lens is context-based. In automatic modes, the ring works as a switch and zooms the lens in and out via an electric motor. In Aperture-Priority, the ring can be set to determine with size of the aperture, and the shutter lever can be used to zoom the lens in and out. In full Manual, the back panel ring can be used to adjust the shutter speed while the lens ring can be used to adjust the aperture.
Drive Fast
Let me say this: for a compact camera, the burst mode is insane! It is the smallest APS-C interchangeable lens camera out there and eventhough the burst only peaks at 6.0fps (as opposed to 11fps on A6000), it can go up to 20 shots in a single burst and processes them very quickly.
Plug it, Leave it
Sony has made it extremely easy to charge the camera. Forget about removing batteries and slotting it into a charger block – none of that nonsense anymore. Just plug in a micro USB cable into it from either a PC or a power socket and the camera will charge, just like your smartphone. These are the features that make the A5100 a real delight to use!
