Faraday Future Hits Pause

The start-up that manufactures electric vehicles, Faraday Future is putting its plan to build a US$1 billion factory in Nevada on hold. The decision was made due to money troubles plaguing former LeEco CEO, Jia Yueting, who is backing the project.

Its North Las Vegas plant was all set to produce Faraday Future’s first car, the FF 91 flagship electric crossover-hatchback. According to Faraday, the company is shifting its focus on another facility that promises an earlier production date.

The FF 91 is a 1,050-horsepower supercar that can accelerate to 60mph in 2.39 seconds. It will also have some degree of semi-autonomous capability. When it eventually reaches production, it could cost as much as US$200,000.
