Facing 47 Charges In Court, Zahid Hamidi Has Trial Postponed So He Can Help Form New Cabinet; WTF?

What a week it’s been, eh?

At the start of last week, our government was in turmoil as Tun M surprisingly stepped down as Prime Minister, leading to a series of events that really just reinforced the notion that all politicians are scum. This week however, the dust is settling on political chicanery at levels that George RR Martin would be proud of as Muhyiddin Yassin is sworn in as the country’s 8th Prime Minister.

Now, this article isn’t about whether or not Muhyiddin is a capable PM. It’s about the fact that UMNO President Zahid Hamidi, A man with 47 charges to his name (12 of which involve criminal breach of trust, eight for corruption and 27 for money laundering involving tens of millions of ringgit in funds), is being hauled out of a court date to basically help put himself back in power.

I’ll let that sink in for a second.

If you ever needed a more obvious illustration of the disease that’s plaguing our country, it’s this. It’s bad enough that we have politicians switching sides to overthrow a government elected by the people. Now, we have a man who’s partially responsible for making Malaysia THE face of kleptocracy giving his two cents on who should be on Muhyiddin’s new cabinet? What a joke. This is without a doubt the biggest slap on the face since the actual slap on the face that my dad gave me for coming home piss drunk all those years ago (sorry dad).

As president of UMNO, odd’s are he’s going to be on that cabinet. It’s like as if they’re not even trying to hide the cronyism that’s going on here. How on earth we’re allowing someone as corrupt as Zahid Hamidi, who again is facing 47 charges, to just walk back into our lives is beyond me. At this rate, don’t be surprised if the charges stacked up against him start to slowly disappear.

Are Malaysian’s really okay with this? I mean, I can’t be the only person who thinks this is sketchy. I guess time will tell, right? God bless us all.
