Facebook Is Slowly Rolling Out Its Redesigned Website

Facebook has shared that it will be rolling out its new design layout to users over the next few months.

The company shared on Twitter that it’s introducing a fresh and simpler Facebook for everyone to use.

The video on Twitter shows off Facebook on desktop as it adopts a design similar to its app counterpart, with a more white colour scheme over the blue.

Facebook also showed off its Dark Mode feature, which users can activate easily from the down arrow on the right-hand side:

Users can choose to opt-in to the new design before it becomes the default for everyone within the next few months.

Facebook first revealed plans to redesign its website layout late last year, noting that it intended to remove the blue banner at the top of its platform and also add a dark mode option.

Facebook then rolled out public tests for its new design in October 2019 and was met with mostly positive feedback.

Earlier this March, Facebook had rolled out its new design layout, along with Dark Mode, to a number of select users, and soon after started rolling out to ‘majority of users’ today.

As for the Facebook app, the company has shared it plans to release a dark mode for both iOS and Android later this year. Honestly, for them to take such a long time to implement dark mode on their app still baffles me when other apps, like WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter and even their own Messenger already have it available.

If you don’t see the option to switch to the new desktop layout, you’re not alone. I don’t have it either, nor do some of my friends.

So don’t worry. It’ll come to us eventually “over the next few months”.
