Day one of the ESL One Genting 2018 main event starts in a few hours with the top 6 six teams vying for US$160,000 first prize with 200 Qualifying Points. The top 6 teams include TI7 champions Team Liquid, former TI champions Evil Geniuses (EG) and Newbee, Virtus.pro (VP), Vici Gaming (VG) and of course, Team Secret.

As both Team Liquid and Team Secret took the win in their respective groups, they will be seeded directly in the semifinals of the main event, slated to happen tomorrow. This gives them an extra day’s rest while being able to study their upcoming opponents.

Day one will see two best-of-threes being played out across the day, the first being a battle of China between Newbee and VG. As both teams are from the same country, you can expect whichever team to come out on top to still have the whole of China behind them.

The eagerly anticipated match-up between VP and EG is definitely one to watch as both teams have always been able to put on quite a show for the fans. The last time these two teams faced off was in the DreamLeague Season 8 Major, which EG won in convincing fashion.
