After two years in the making, Google has just revamped and relaunched a new version of Google Earth for web and android. The new service has many add-0ns including Voyager, a virtual trip that takes you on guided tours in collaborations with BBC Earth.

Features also include,  I’m Feeling Luck which zaps you to an unexpected place with 20,000 curated places in the library and let Google Earth take you on a journey of discovery. There is now more to learn about a place apart from just seeing them from the air, knowledge cards are tagged to each place of interest and a 3D button for a 360 view of a place. There is also the ‘home’ feature which allows users to enter homes and meet people of certain culture to understand more about the people that inhabit the same earth we share. A nice feature that can take up a whole evening.

Before you think of it as a poor man’s holiday, there are many uses for the service and with improved additions, learning about places and geography for students is one application we can think of. Go ahead check it out, there is also a VR version.
