Security Minister, Dato Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his daily briefing has stopped all inter-state travel with immediate effect, this comes after PDRM reported many Malaysians attempting to cross state border without valid permits.
The easing was announced to accommodate those celebrating Hari Raya and especially for close family members with valid reason to return to their kampungs. However, reports started emerging with many taking advantage of the exemption giving all kind of reasons to break the CMCO guidelines. A particular police station saw thousands queing up to get permits, with social distancing in place, the snaking line was quite long said the Minister. When asked if all these people had emergency cases to attend to back home, some replied that there just trying their luck.
Over 3000 vehicles were turned back because of not having proper approval and of breaching the SOP for inter-state travel. The overwhelming response and with some using illegal means to cross border has prompted the government to end the permission with immediate effect.
