Elon Musk’s replacement will be overseeing his every move.

Tesla has announced the replacement for founder, Elon Musk’s position in the company. Chief Financial Officer and head of strategy of Telstra, Robyn Denholm will soon be leaving her position at Telstra and moving in to Tesla to assume her position immediately.

Robyn being one of the only two female on the board of directors had taken up her position as CFO in Telstra  last month after her stint as chief operations officer since 2017. The move to appoint Robyn as a replacement for Elon was forced by the US financial regulators to settle fraud claims against Musk, ends speculation that James Murdoch, the 21st Century Fox boss and a Tesla director was supposed to take over.

Founder of the electric carmaker was embroiled in fraud claims, scandals over his erratic behavior and he was also being sued by a British diver he called a “pedo” after the two had a row over how to save a group of children stuck in a Thai cave. Musk had also attracted controversy when he smoked cannabis on a live radio show.

Denholm had a position on the Tesla board as an independent director since 2014 and has been in senior positions at other tech companies including Juniper Networks, where she was chief financial officer, and Sun Microsystems. She then moved to the US in 2001 after spending her early career at Arthur Anderson in Sydney and Japanese carmaker Toyota.

“Robyn has extensive experience in both the tech and auto industries, and she has made significant contributions as a Tesla board member over the past four years in helping us become a profitable company. I look forward to working even more closely with Robyn as we continue accelerating the advent of sustainable energy.” says Elon Musk

The announcement on Wednesday comes ahead of a Nov. 13 deadline that was part of Mr. Musk’s settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to end claims he misled investors. The deal required Elon to step aside as head of the board for three years in favor of an independent chairman.
