Famous for giving us our favourite sports video games like FIFA, NBA, Madden as well as popular cult following titles like Star Wars: Battlefront, Need For Speed (NFS) and Battlefield 1, EA didn’t hold back in this year’s E3 as it announced the following new titles:-

• FIFA 18
• Madden NFL 18
• NBA Live 18

Madden NFL 18 was the first up to bat and the cinematic trailer did not disappoint as EA introduces a new storyline into the American Football simulation game. Known as Long Shot, Madden NFL 18 will follow a similar route to FIFA 17 – ‘The Journey’, which used the Frostbite game engine.

Touching on FIFA, EA announced more on the development of FIFA 18 with all new player movement, team gameplay and even stadium atmosphere. With two-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo on the cover, FIFA 18 also sees the return of ‘The Journey’ protagonist, Alex Hunter as FIFA 18 will have a brand new storyline for Alex Hunter.

NBA Live 18 is also another game to feature a brand new storyline known as ‘The One’. Although not much detail was given, The One allows you to choose between playing your main character either in the streets to gain respect or in the league to gain recognition.

Aside from building on these three popular sports titles, EA also announced the successor to the controversial Star Wars: Battlefront with Star Wars: Battlefront II.  The introduction of the much-anticipated Star Wars game saw the march of the storm troopers on stage (I had a mini geek-out moment), followed up with an offline single player campaign mode, much to the delight of many Star Wars fan across the globe. From having different classes for both Stormtroopers as well as the Rebel Alliance in multiplayer mode, Battlefront II will also have iconic characters and locations from both the prequel and sequel trilogies. It will also feature split-screen co-op game modes, new and improved space battles and story modes across all three Star Wars eras. Aside from the likes of Yoda, Luke Skywalker and even Darth Maul making an appearance in the game, John Boyega was also at E3 via livestream to tell us that FN-2187 aka Finn will also be part of Battlefront II.

Need for Speed: Payback is also EA’s second NFS title reboot with the original debuting in 2015. NFS: Payback will feature an open-world concept with plenty of similarities to one of the most popular NFS titles of all time, ‘Most Wanted’. Payback will also give players the chance to use three different main characters who come with different driving skills. Taking a page out of Most Wanted’s book, Payback will also feature the iconic ‘slow-mo’ action camera when it comes to its action sequences. Unlike the 2015 reboot, Payback will have an offline single player campaign mode.

EA also announced an new DLC available coming this September for Battlefield 1 – “in the name of the Tsar”. With a compilation video of popular Battlefield 1 player streams with iconic, jaw dropping and simply hilarious plays, ‘in the name of the Tsar’ features eight new maps alongside many other new updates.

With the more mainstream titles aside, EA also featured a brand new game titled ‘A Way Out’, a co-op action adventure game, which focuses on two characters who are trying to break out of prison. The unique gameplay feature of ‘A Way Out’ talks about a split-screen gameplay, which can be played either online or on the same console with a friend, making it the first-of-its-kind co-op game. The game is slated for an early 2018 release and I for one cannot wait to get my hands on it.
