The DxOMark review for the iPhone X is out and the latest (and priciest) device from Apple scored a total score of 97, a mark behind Google Pixel 2, which currently holds the throne.
In terms of still photos however, it seems the iPhone has emerged top with 101 points, kicking joint leaders Huawei Mate 10 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 out by 1 point. While sporting similar specs with its sibling in the line-up, the iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X comes with an improved telephoto lens which features a wider aperture at f/2.4 with OIS. DxOMark notes that this helped pushed the iPhone X up in rankings compared to its sibling.
The report compared the performance of the X with the iPhone 8 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Google Pixel 2. DxOMark noted the X has strengths in Zoom, Exposure, Colour, Texture, Noise and Artifacts over the 8 Plus. The report also noted “good exposures and HDR images, accurate colour rendering, good detail with low noise, as well as a natural-looking bokeh effect in Portrait mode”. For videos however, the X was recorded with a slightly disappointing score of 89 points.
The overall score tied the iPhone X with the Huawei Mate 10 in the rankings.
