China made smartphones are gaining recognition and the mocking has stopped. Manufacturers from mainland are capable of producing quality, reliable devices at much cheaper price, Huawei, OPPO, and Xiaomi all examples of brands that are now sitting comfortably on the main table with Samsung and Apple.
It is with this level of proven confidence, that we will have to take seriously on even the quirkiest sounding company to come out with a smartphone from that country. Doogee has been in Malaysia for a while mainly targeting their products for the entry level. They have now launched Doogee X5 Max and X5 Max Pro targeting the same segment but with more features included.
Bear in mind this is in the affordable category and while everyone would like to own a full-metal body phone like the HTC 10, X5 Max is unfortunately made of out of plastic, with hints of metal on the frames. Its body dimension measures at 14.15 x 6.97 x 1.04 cm and weighs in at 145 grams.
Features are all impactfull for a RM249 and RM459 priced smartphone, fingerprint sensor, 2GB RAM, 16GB memory, and an ominous amount of battery thrown in. Camera is also decent with an 8MP with LED flash for the rear and a 5MP for the front. At 5.0 inches, it has an IPS screen that delivers 1280 x 720 pixels in HD resolution.
Difference compared to the X5 Max and the X5 Max Pro, is one has 1GB RAM and the other 2GB RAM with 4G, you guess which one.
