Disney will launch its new streaming service, Disney+, sometime in late 2019. The service will serve as the one-stop platform for its shows and movies, including original Marvel and Star Wars series.

Among its new and original shows include a prequel series to Star Wars movie ‘Rogue One’, starring Cassian Andor, portrayed by Diego Luna. An original series featuring Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, is also in the works.

Some other new shows also include a rebooted version of High School Musical, a new season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, an original series based on Monsters. Inc, as well as movies starring Anna Kendrick and Willem DaFoe.

In August 2017, Disney announced that it would pull all of its movies from Netflix in 2019. In recent weeks, Netflix has also canceled some of its original Marvel series such as Luke Cage and Iron Fist. This has thrown the future of existing Netflix series such as Daredevil and Jessica Jones into the wind.

Disney has launched a teaser website for its streaming service, which showcases logos of brands like Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.

The company has not announced whether Disney+ will launch globally. However, it is likely that consumers will have to pay for a subscription, as is common with video streaming platforms these days. Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that the service would be priced lower than competitor Netflix.
