DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd is working with Skype to offer free Skype credit to DiGi customers as part of DiGi’s on-going efforts to deliver richer Internet experience. Starting from 1 April 2013, users can sign up for postpaid broadband or mobile internet plans to get the credit.

Through a conference call via Skype, Praveen Rajan, Head of Products, Internet and Service of DiGi says: “This latest collaboration with Skype joins the growing list of relationships DiGi has been embarking on to drive the mobile Internet adoption rate in Malaysia. We believe that it is important to create a positive environment that propels communications usage trends to the next level. With Skype, we aim to further enrich customers’ experiences.”
Existing DiGi customers will only be able to get the free Skyke credit through targeted programmes as a means to encourage postpaid customers to try out the Skype call service. This means not all existing customers will be getting it. On the bright side, this offer is applicable for customers who are about to renew their contract or want to apply for a second line for their tablet. When asked about why the offer is extended only to tablet, Praveen mentions it will encourage consumers to consider DiGi as a viable alternative when looking for an Internet plan for their tablet.
This offer will also be available at participating DiGi Stores nationwide and via DiGi Store Online from 1 April to 31 July 2013 on a first come, first served basis, while stocks last. Expiry date for activation of the Skype credit is 31 July 2013.
