Malaysia has recorded 131 new Covid-19 cases as of Monday, April 6, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,793. Also reported was one new death, bringing the total death toll of Covid-19 in Malaysia to 62 cases.
According to a live broadcast at the Ministy’s daily Covid-19 briefing, Health Director-General Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said this translates to a fatality rate of 1.63% out of the total cases.
But there is some good news, as Monday April 6, Malaysia has discharged 236 patients as of noon earlier today, making this the highest number of recoveries in a single day so far.
This brings the total of recovered cases to 1,241 patients since the start of the outbreak. At the moment, there is a 32.7 percent recovery rate out of the total number of cases.
In terms of more serious cases, Malaysia currently has 102 patients that are being treated in intensive care units (ICU), with 54 needing use of ventilators.
The latest death from Covid-19 in Malaysia, was a 67-year old Malaysian with a history of diabetes and high blood pressure. He is a close contact of the cluster at the Sri Petaling tabligh gathering. He was treated Sultanah Nur Zahirah hospital in Terengganu, and died on April 5.
