After months of beta testing, Microsoft’s Cortana: the AI that Redmond claims is the smartest artificial intelligence in the universe is now available for Android and iOS. The once Windows desktop only virtual assistant will now offer her service to millions of those on the mobile platform.
Although a select few we know would be psyched about Cortana (refer to pic above) being with them in every waking moment, we on the other hand would like to see how many iPhone users will try her out, and sling it out with SIRI. The app will go live with immediate effect on to various app stores, users can also download the app via Microsoft’s Windows 10 Companion app.
Interestingly though, Cortana will be deeply integrated on Cynogen OS OnePlus when the latest update for the OS takes place this December. On OnePlus users of the device can command Cortana wherever they are, even in another app, however for Android it will be through the app or home screen. As for iOS the features are even more limited, looks like Apple is not ready to open up yet.
The AI from Microsoft works explicitly smooth on Windows 10, after taking her for test drive in these past months, we have grown to like Cortana and we have a weird feeling she likes us too (that voice). Voice recognition software is near perfect, as a self learning machine it will only get better, ask for a joke and she will politely provide you one. And just like a personal secretary she will once in a while asks is she can help.
Users experience in navigating with Cortana On mobile should not differ much, but we suggest trying her out on Windows 10 for now. The app will be available in China and US for now with the other countries to follow suit, we in Malaysia have yet to get official availability for Cortana in Windows 10 even but that’s easily circumvented by changing your location.
