Recently, the trailer for Mortal Kombat has been released everywhere all around the Internet and has gained mixed feedback from it. One most significant thing that fans recognised right away is the absence of one of the characters, Chun Li.
As a brief description, Chun Li is a character in Capcom’s Street Fighter video game series. She is the first playable female fighter of any fighting game franchise to gain mainstream recognition. Her first appearance was in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior in 1991. Her name is also the title of a Nicki Minaj’s song.
Her absence was answered when apparently it was explained that she was not a part of the Mortal Kombat megaverse.
However, hold your anger and devastation because even if she is not going to be there, she and fellow Street Fighter character, Ryu are together to be the playable characters in Fortnite. Both of them are going to be available in Fortnite’s in-game shop on Saturday, February 20 at 7PM ET.

They are not the first video game stars to be featured in Fortnite this season as there are also Kratos from God of War and Master Chief from Halo.
The entire season has been packed with other crossovers, including Tron, G.I. Joe’s Snake Eyes, two characters from The Walking Dead, soccer kits from real-world teams, and even the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda. Last season saw a huge Marvel-themed crossover in the game.
Hence, with the announcement made, hopefully it will recover the agony of not seeing Chun Li in the movie soon.
However, the thought of one of the most iconic characters not in the movie is still too absurd to digest. This announcement also means that crossovers in Fortnite are not going to stop in the near future. Whoever characters that are coming, we shall wait and see.
