Every time we go abroad, the first thing we do when we land at the airports is to switch of the mobile data feature on our devices. A common term ‘bill shock’ is something many want to avoid, taking a trip to Vietnam and returning back to receive a phone bill higher than the flight fare is not very welcoming.

In their attempt to keep customers using the service while overseas, Celcom has launched its new international roaming plans with additional add-ons. Celcom Passport, is a flexible plan that offers just one flat rate for customers to choose from depending on their duration and use. Under the new plan, there’s a 7 day 3 in 1 deal encompassing data, call and sms, 1 day call and sms  and 1 day internet and i day social pass for both prepaid and postpaid customers.

First Gold, Gold Plus and Platinum subscribers can opt for the 7 day pass that consists of 3GB data bundled with unlimited calls and sms for RM138 usable across 30 countries. There is also the RM18 per day option which is applicable within Asean countries except for Vietnam. The one day unlimited internet pass at RM38 can be used in most countries as long as users stay on the partnered network, as for social roam the bundle provides 1GB for Facebook, twitter, whatsapp and wechat with 50Mb for hi speed internet and 50mb basic internet for RM10 a day applicable for Xpax Prepaid users.

Before making the trips and planning on your phone budget, do take note the ‘day’ refereed in the plans expires at 11.59 pm each day, so if you land in the country at 11.00 pm and you activate your roaming you will be charged for a full day even if you use for only an hour.
