Last night, during the midnight launch of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, Celcom announces that it is planning to have additional 2,300 LTE sites by the year end, which gives it the biggest LTE coverage in the country, reaching over 56% of the population.
Within the CAPEX guidance of RM1 billion for 2015, Zalman Aefendy Zainal Abidin, CMO and Sales Officer at Celcom Axiata Bhd, says that the telco wants to become the strongest and widest network in Malaysia. Celcom’s network has consistently given high speed LTE connection to its customers and this will make the company stand out from its competitors, according to Zalman.
Celcom also focuses on providing a wholesome experience to its customers that doesn’t end with them signing up for the network. For example, Celcom has placed 27 Apple experts in its stores nationwide, who will assist buyers set up the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, answer any enquiries and help with any problem they might have with their iPhone.
The company also creates a Blue Cube online retail store, bluecube.com, so that customers can now do their shopping, top up or pay their bills online, from the comfort of their home. Zalman also hints of special online offers in the coming month.
We can also see Celcom’s admirable efforts to take care of its customers at the launch last night. Fans of the Apple new smartphone like Jess and Shawn, who have been queueing up since 3pm yesterday, were able to experience buying the iPhone in person seconds after it is released comfortably. Celcom has provided a number of services, such as stand-in staffs for customers who need to leave their spot for awhile and get food or bathroom break. Customers are also provided a comfort kit and running entertainment from the flat screen TVs on the site.
With more mobile users becoming internet-driven and crave for faster, wider data coverage and packages, we are seeing telcos investing heavily on LTE expansion and 5G development to meet the ever growing demands of its customers. We will definitely see more innovations in telecommunication technologies and services as its providers compete to bring the best experience to the users.
