Konami has announced Castlevania Requiem for the PlayStation 4. This bundle includes two classic Castlevania games such as Symphony of the Night, as well as Rondo of Blood. The compilation will arrive as a digital download next month, on 26th October 2018.
Rondo of Blood focuses on the story of vampire hunter Richter Belmont, while Symphony of the Night is about Dracula’s son Alucard. While the games feature different protagonists, the plot and characters are closely related.
Rondo of Blood was originally a Japanese exclusive which launched in 1993. Described as one of the best side-scrolling action games of its time. On the other hand, Symphony of the Night has often been praised as a key mover of the Metroidvania genre, featuring RPG elements and intricate levels filled with secrets. Symphony of the Night acts as the sequel to Rondo of Blood, so you’ll want to start with the latter first.
Both games, while emulated for the PlayStation 4, feature several updates. This includes 4K/1080p upscaling, multiple high resolution backgrounds, different rendering options, as well as full Trophy support. Furthermore, Castlevania Requiem will feature functionality with the DualShock 4’s vibration, analogue stick, and speaker. Expect things like a cool little chime when you pick up an item.
Playing these classics is sure to bring back some good memories for Castlevania veterans. On the other hand, this bundle also makes a good entry point for franchise newcomers.
You can pre-order Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood now on PlayStation Store. The game launches on 26th October 2018.
