Not quite a smartwatch, but the Casio EDIFICE still packs in quite a bit of tech to make your time keeping less hassle.
The EDIFICE EQB501XD-1A and EQB501XDB-1A comes with a 3D dial, speed indicator and tachymeter etched bezel, designed to suit professional and casual lifestyles.
Although taking on a more traditional form factor, both models can connect to a smartphone with just a push of a button through Casio’s Mobile Link Technology.
Using the CASIO WATCH+ app and connecting to a compatible smartphone via Bluetooth SMART, the watch can access the correct time in its current location and for up to 300 cities worldwide, even updating with the latest time zone and Daylight Saving Time information.
The timepieces also have improved accuracy by automatically syncing, via phone, to a time server on the internet four times a day or they can be synced by a one-push reset to ensure ultimate accuracy.

The watches also feature Casio’s Tough Solar Power system which eliminates the need for battery changes. After a full-charge and without further exposure to light, the timepieces have a battery life of approximately seven months as well as a special power save feature that enables it to power down when not exposed to light for a certain period of time to conserve energy. These solar battery-powered timepieces can even be charged in low or fluorescent light.
The new EDIFICE timepieces are water resistant up to 100 meters and comes in brushed and polished solid stainless steel band, protected with a scratch resistant mineral crystal. Additional features include a stopwatch, daily alarm, lap memory, Phone Finder, neo-brite luminous hands and more.
Casio’s EQB501XD-1A features stainless steel with red accents (USD $300, approx. RM 1350), and EQB501XDB-1A features stainless steel with black ion plated bezel and blue accents (USD $320, approx. RM1450) – both available this month at Fred Meyer Jewelers and select Macy’s.
