Captain Marvel 2 is now officially in production at Marvel Studios, and Megan McDonnell from Disney+’s WandaVision is now in final negotiations to write the script for the sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is also looking for a female filmmaker to take charge of the movie as they’re hoping to release Captain Marvel 2 in theaters in 2022.

Apparently, they’ll be moving the new story from the 1990s in the original Captain Marvel, to present day. So it’ll be interesting to see what kind of story they could whip up with the Captain Marvel character, who was Marvel’s first female-focused film. It was also reported that the original was a huge success as it made over $1.1 billion in the global box office earnings.

It’s also been reported that the original writers and directors of Captain Marvel, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will not be working on the sequel but “are in talks to remain in the Marvel Universe and direct a possible Disney+ series.”

Well at least it’s going to be a different feel to the sequel because I personally, did not like Captain Marvel. It wasn’t so much the story elements but I just didn’t feel for the character. She’s actually so OP and I feel like she knows that. That’s why she can do the things she does, and no one can stop her. That’s also personally why I was never a fan of Superman, because there was no point to it. He was just too powerful.

Captain Marvel feels the same to me, and I feel like her character is then portrayed to be arrogant. But maybe that’s just me. But either, it’s a cool piece of news so we know that the Marvel universe is heading strong and that they’re moving on after the Avengers Phase of the MCU.
