Homegrown e-wallet Boost today announced a strategic partnership with Setel, the first mobile application in Malaysia, which provides PETRONAS customers with seamless on-the-go refuelling and retail experience.
Not only does this partnership expand the offerings of Boost under its ‘Transport & Transit’ portfolio, but more importantly, it explores a new frontier in driving interoperability between the two platforms, in which Setel will be fully integrated into the Boost app.
This means that users can directly access Setel through Boost, and enjoy a seamless experience by making fuel purchases from their mobile devices without leaving their vehicles. When paying with Boost, users will also be able to earn Mesra points for each transaction made at PETRONAS stations, giving them double rewards.
“We are excited to form this collaboration with Setel. Boost is always looking to disrupt the status quo and digitise traditional day-to-day routines. Especially now, in this new normal where domestic travel has growing popularity with many exploring the country by road, we want to meet the needs of Malaysians looking for a faster and safer way to refuel on their travels.
This new relationship is a stepping stone to drive more interoperability between both partners in building a robust cashless ecosystem for a digital forward society,” said Mohd Khairil Abdullah, CEO of Boost.
New users can register for a Setel account from within Boost by going to the ‘Transport’ tile, tapping on Setel and entering their phone number. Once registered, users can simply enter the pump number and amount to be filled.
“Setel continues to revolutionise the retail-on-the-go experience for customers in Malaysia through our new offerings. We have built an ecosystem centred around PETRONAS retail stations while leveraging on our strong network of partners to deliver a seamless and frictionless experience to our customers.
This collaboration unlocks the pay, pump and go experience at 1,000 Setel-enabled PETRONAS stations nationwide while earning double loyalty rewards from both Setel and Boost,” said Iskandar Ezzahuddin, CEO of Setel.
From October 1 to December 31, Boost and Setel are giving a 10% cashback, capped at RM5 upon a minimum spend of RM30. This cashback is applicable to 200,000 newly registered Setel users who make their first transaction using Boost at Setel-enabled PETRONAS stations.
Within 7 working days, the cashback earned will be credited automatically into the Setel Partner Wallet in the Boost account of the user. Any cashback stored in the Partner Wallet will be automatically deducted at the next visit of the user to a participating PETRONAS station upon a minimum spending of RM20 with Boost.
