Like it or not, Windows 7’s mainstream support ended a year ago. Of course, like XP, Microsoft will have ‘extended support’ for security fixes until another 5 years are up, but these aren’t sufficient.

According to Microsoft Germany’s Head of Windows, Markus Nitschke, this level of support just isn’t good enough for businesses and enterprises which absolutely need the latest in security.

One security advantage of Windows 10 over 7 is its ability to use machine-learning to detect behavioural patterns in malware. Windows Information Protection and biometric logging through Windows Hello also further strengthens the case for a transition to Windows 10.

What’s more, the transition from 7 to 10 will be a lot smoother than the one from XP to 7 as Microsoft has done a lot more to ensure software and hardware compatibility between the two.
